Does anyone take PROVIGIL with their antidepressent?

I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent.  Has anyone tried this?  I am having a hard time functioning.  Any help would be appreciated.

I am on several meds for my bipolar and depression.  One of my major side effects was sleeping most of the day away, which I could not shake for the pastt 2 years.  My doctor put me on Provigil about a year or two ago, but I rarely would take it because it made me very hyper and nervous.  Now I started taking it regularly (only 1/2 of my 100 mg tablet per day) and am very awake and extremely talkative.  I am driving those around me crazy, but have accomplished most of my "to do" list in the past 2 weeks that has been getting longer and longer over the past few years.  I think it is well-worth the "hyper" side effect in the beginning to get this kind of help.  I am sure that after I am on the medication for a while I will calm down some.  I might add that I also have ADD & bipolar disorder.

Hi again,

Im not sure the exact cost but I was on two
name brand meds at the same time and I
hit my insurance cap which is one of the
reasons I came off of it.  It has been awhile
since I took it so they may even have it
in generic now - I dont know.  It was
definitely a worthwhile med for me.  The
other name brand med I was on was very
expensive so it could be that the provigil
wasnt so bad - I never checked the exact
costs.  But my insurance did pay for it
up until I hit the maximum cap they have.

best wishes,

Thank you starr - that is really helpful.  Why was it so expensive?  Did your insurance pay for it?

Hi,

I took provigil in the past along with paxil
and it helped a lot with the fatigue I had
from the paxil.  I eventually stopped it
because it was so expensive but it worked
great while I was on it.

best wishes,
