Hi;! After a stressfull april, I thought may was going well, things were lookin up, Out of the, blue though last thurs the 3rd, as I was sitting watching tv suddenly I couldn't breathe well, heart was racing, arms hurt. Went to e.r.and nothing was wrong. Ever since then, everyday I am,functionless,, all I do is cry,  head burns, arms burn , heart races. I can't even take care of my 11yr old properly. My husband has had to stay home and is runnin out of time. I went to doctor and just started Celexa 20mg. And Klonopin twice a day.  its been 4 days,& and I am stil not any  better :o(.  I'm worried it wont be any better and I'm stuck crying and unable to function the rest of my life . Anyone go through this and get better? not to mention the klonopin  makes me feel weird and tired. I just want to be my normal cheery happy self! I've never felt this before! Any advice or experience would be great! sorry so long!

Hi again,

Hopefully your celexa will kick in for you
soon.  I am a fast responder to meds and
usually have some improvement after a
couple of weeks but it does take some
people 6-8 weeks to respond.  I know its
hard but try to keep in mind that you are
closer each day to feeling better.

best wishes,

Thank you star 363, im def. Not greatly improved daily, but not quite as teary. I still have no desire to go do anything fun like I used to (getting out of house, shopping, etc) I just want to be home in jammies. Im now on day 9 of celexa, and it seemed like a setback day.,:o(  Had to take my klonopin full force.
But hoping sooooon I return to myself! I hate being so sad and have such negative/doom thoughts all the time.

Hi,

I hope you are improving greatly every day.
When I was first diagnosed with depression
and anxiety it took several weeks before
the meds kicked in and started helping, but
my pdoc gave me Xanax (benzo like klonopin)
to use during the start-up phase of the antidepressant
and it helped tremendously with both my
anxiety and depression.  It works fast too.
I know it seems like you will never feel like
yourself again but you will - it just takes
time.  Im glad you seem to have a supportive
husband, that helps too.

best wishes,

Hello, thank you for your replies.. I have now been on celexa 6 days (20mg). I'm not crying near as much,.and.have been trying not to take klonopin (although ive been needing at least a half a pill daily).  I'm still nowhere close to myself, and daily motherly, normal functions aren't there :( I still have no desire to go do anything, get ready, etc. I also still feel as if I'll never enjoy anything again. :(.  So, I'm not sure if meds are helping yet or not, tomorrow will be one week on celexa. Maybe.I'm just impatient,.just never felt like this. Also still getting side effects from them, hoping that passes too!

Hi, Drugs can take a few weeks to start working.  Sometimes you need to find which drug works best for you.  What works for some, does not work for others.  I think you will get well on the medication that suits you.  You should not get too many side effects when you find the right one.

Give it a bit more time, and see how you feel.  If after 2 weeks, there is no difference, go back to the doctor.  You may, or may not get out of this depression, but I think anti-depressants will help.

Let us know how you are feeling now.
