HELP ME PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cant stop pulling out my hair and i don't know what to do is not any one who can help me i am 16 and i have been hiding bold spots from the people every since i was 7 i cant tell family because i cant stand to think how much worse they would treat me.I need advise no one knows how bad  this is but me people just say o keep your hands out ya head and its not that simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also search "trichotillomania support."  There seem to be a lot of young women sharing and helping each other on the internet with this problem.

Actually its called trichotillomania. Its a condition that's a form of obsessive compulsive disorder and treated with medication for that. Look up the term and explain it to your psychiatrist. That is readily treatable.

Your condition is a sign of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).  There are medications and therapy that can treat this condition relatively quickly.  But, you have to reach out for help.  Talk to a school counselor, a close friend or someone you can trust.  The sooner you address the problem, the sooner you can get over this behavior.

There is a certain medical condition where people pull their hair out.  Please seek help for this.  You do not need to be ashamed.  You have a medical condition, just like diabetes or arthritis.  If you had those conditions, you would seek help.  You need to seek help for this as well.  Please make an appointment with your family doctor first.  If he/she thinks you need to see a specialist, they will they you.  Please do this for yourself.  Keep us posted.  Good luck
