Help with Zoloft

I have been taking zoloft 100mg for about 7 years originally because of a bad breakup with a boyfriend.  Now I am feeling super weird.  A couple months ago Rite Aid stopped carrying the same version I was taking and have a new manufacturer.  I was feeling the withdrawals immediately and thought I should go back to the original manufacturer.  Now I am completely unbalanced.  When I take Zoloft I feel it zoom in my head, I am immediately hungry and lack any kind of sex drive.  I have extra strong sensations when I am touched and am having a really hard time.  I want to GET OFF THIS DRUG!  I have been reading a lot on this site and realize I am not alone.  Can I be normal again without this drug?  I just don't know what to do.  I don't have medical insurance and find that my GP doesn't know much about anti-depressants.  They just tell me to go to a psychiatrist and I can't afford one.  I am afraid that I will start picking out stupid things to be upset about.  I want my libido back!  I want to enjoy my awesome boyfriend and have amazing sex again!  I want off this drug!  Please HELP!!!

It cant really be a problem with the new kind, theyre exactly the same just on active ingredient name instead of the brand name Zoloft. Is it possible they gave you something else entirely or a different dose, what does the box say?Lily

Before you stop taking medication ask the pharmacist for a different generic version.  It is a fact that the name brands and generics don't always work the same.  But you should not have those side effects.  Point these out to the pharmacist.  Personally, there is no excuse for a GP who doesn't do some research and learn how to help their patient.  That is pitiful.  Can you switch to another doctor or PA?  Even a nurse in the practice may have more information that could help you the the doctor.  Do NOT quit cold turkey.  That can be harmful.  Check with the Health Department for a counselor.  Contact the original manufacturer of the Zoloft you were taking ans ask if they provide financial assistance or what they can recommend as a course of action.  Compliment them on how well their drug worked and you were forced to switch.  You are not functioning and having increasing problems with the generic.  See if they can help.  They want customers also.  Find a psychologist (less expensive than a psychiatrist) and have him/her confer with your doctor and make a recommendation on the types of medications that are available.  They cannot prescribe but are very familiar with them and how they work.  They CAN work with your doctor.  You.....need to do some research yourself.  Look up Zoloft forums and read what other individuals have done.  Keep asking the same question over and over.  Look up 'medications for depression' yourself and study them.  That is how I found out about Pristiq and this site. Read all of the reviews so you know how it works and doesn't, or diagnosis and side effects.  If you find one you really think might work, take the information to your doctor and ask him/her to look into it and the possibility of trying the medication.  Be clear and concise about the reasons WHY you want to try it; works for anxiety, depression, what you learned about side effects, etc.  I AM NOT ADVOCATING SELF MEDICATION.  It is up to your doctor to make that decision.  But as a patient you still need to be informed of everything that goes into your body and how it may affect your health.
