Feelings of loneliness, being "down and sad," loss of energy... All of these could be indicative of a depressive episode, depending upon how long they've persisted.
Counseling would probably be a good idea. It is very important that you reach out to those in your support system and make sure you're making efforts to talk to people. Whatever is causing your feelings of sadness will be made worse if you allow yourself to be disconnected from other people.
Find out if there are any volunteer opportunities in your area (a nursing home, perhaps?) that you could take advantage of while your daughter is at school. This will keep you feeling useful and will help to counteract any feelings of loneliness you might feel during that particularly time of day.
Try some of these things, and come back to tell us of any progress you've made. You will pull through!

Hello, I have just joined this community and am finding it helpful. I am so much older than you and live alone with my little dog. I am very lonely, and yet I cannot go into a social situation or hold a conversation at the moment. Keep on looking on this site to find friends who understand what you are going through. We can't be with each other in body but we can help you feel less alone. Are you on any medication? Have you seen a doctor? Can you talk to your partner about this? Depression ***** our energy, and every day is a mountain to climb. Keep in touch and pour out your worries to us here. We understand.
