Paxil Side Effects

Hi,

I believe that Paxil is the reason my short term memory is bad.  I read a few threads that also say the same thing.  What I want to know, if I go off of it, which I know is tough, will my memory improve??? Please let me know if anyone has the same symptom and/or if anyone has tried to go off Paxil with any improvement...is it the same w/ all anti=depressants???

I have never heard of any SSRI antidepressant effecting memory. Then again each person is different and is effected differently.

I do know that my severe Depression was killing my memory. Could it be that your still depressed and maybe that is what is effecting your memory?

If not than you could always try a different antidepressant and see if that is better.

I've been on a couple of different SSRI's Paxil(generic) and now on Prozaz.  I have noticed that my memory doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be.  I've always attributed to getting older and having a ton more stress in my life.  I've done a lot of research on SSRI side effects and have never seen anything documented about memory loss.  

Getting off of Paxil (if that's what you decide to do) is very difficult.  Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects.  Did a great job for me!  Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety.  However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
