Psychologist

Just to update everybody!
I managed through my daughter's wedding shower OK.  Today I had an appointment with Psychologist. She was very nice lady, young and I think very knowleagleble. Not for a minute (my session was suposed to last an hour and it lasted hour and half) I had feeling that she was rushing me. I basically told her what I am finding depressing and I have anxiety about. It all stems from when I retired and all of a sudden I had too much time on my hands and I no longer felt useful. Now when I sit down for few minutes I have a feeling that I should be doing something and I feel guilty about it. Another thing is fear of death ( I am fairly healthy), but friends of my age are starting to die and I have this fear in me. Also not being included, although my daughter lives at home I am not included in any wedding plans, or anything in her life. I feel as if I am standing in the middle of nowhere or on the wrong side of the rail and life goes by me and nobody cares. So I guess in the next session we will deal with all this and hopefully it will help me through my difficult time. Today she thaught me meditation breathing. I will try it tonight. I still feel very low.....but I am glad I found this site and fellow sufferers, it feels good to be able to be understood.

I can relate to all of the above things, you are going through. I am older than you, and had to quit my job, due to health reasons , and also my husband, has many health issues, he is on oxygen, does not walk, and even tho it is a full time job, i miss my work, so much., since money is short, i can not go to a therapist, but it would not help me anyway, as i have worked both gen, and mental field for 40 years, and i know just what they would say,,I also live at the edge of a small town, has a post office, and, a store. and little else, i do not have any neighbors, also i have found out that when we get depressed, and we know the reason, we can help ourselves, i also used to think of death. due to health issues, but i have learned to accept, what i can not change, and to try, and change what i can. you need to find some part time job,or if you do   not need the money, donate some of your time, there are so many people out there that need you even if it is a few hour, you will feel good about yourself, also-you will meet people, and being alone, i think may-be part of the problem, you cant change what your daughter is doing, so accept it, i know she loves you. I lost my oldest daughter, at age 51. if i had not have had a job, or something to do. i might have just folded, but, i knew that i could not,Also you know the 3 needs of mankind, and that is to be needed, loved, wanted, or accepted, and i am quite sure that someone loves you, and needs you, never let your brain go to waste, by brooding, keep it busy, also you need to keep busy, get a hobby. do something, but dont stay home and brood maybe start reading, and remember you will have your daughter in your life, that counts for something, count your blessings, also, if you feel your rherapist is not listenin, change to one that will, also remember, there are good, and bad in any profession.also when you are having a real bad day click on my profile, and pond my ear, i am just an e mail away, and am always here, that is if you do not mind trying to read my poor typing, as i have never typed in my life, until i joined med help. i do widh you the best, and keep the ole bean sharp, we can have a good brain even tho our physical health may get bad  luck  jo

When we're standing in that middle of nowhere, it's great to be given options of directions! I hope you feel better soon. Thank you so much for the update.

The power of breath! Mmm, amazing isn't it?
