Concerns about Lexapro

I took Zoloft for abt. 7 years with fairly good results.  Abt 3 years ago I switched to Effexor because Zoloft was losing its effectiveness *and* because of problems with loss of interest in sex, which was really screwing up my long-term relationship.  I recently stopped taking Effexor too, for the same reasons.  I have been off Effexor for abt 1 month now.  Mostly I feel OK, and my libido is starting to come back.

My doctor would like me to try Lexapro, as I still have a few remaining symptoms of depression & anxiety (not major ones, I function & go to work & take care of my daughter w/no major problems).  I am kind of scared of the Lexapro.  I don't know much about it (have heard a few really bad stories about side effects and withdrawal problems), and I'm also wary of trying another SSRI because I don't want to go rigth back to square 1 in terms of loss of libido.

Can anybody fill me in on what Lexapro is like?  I don't know whether it's worth trying, or if I am better off to just stay off everything.

I have been taking Lexapro for about 7 months now.  For about the first 3 weeks I did suffer from anorgasmia, but after that I had literally no side effects.  I did drop a few pounds which was fine with me, and my doctor was pleased. I'm like a new person, I feel good, I do more things with my kids, I go more. It's great to be me again.Good Luck!!

Hi Lulu,
I have taken Lexapro for the past 3 years for anxiety, and i really love it. i am off it now because I am pregnant, but wishing i was able to take it! I had literally no side effects - not at all. I have been told by my Dr. that Lexapro is one of the newer SSRI's with not many side effects. I felt good within 2 weeks and really great about a month or so later. I know its really hard to try something new, I had mania with Paxil and stomach iussues with Zoloft. I know its hard but you may want to give the Lexapro a try. It may work wonders for you as it did for me! I hope so! Good luck!!!
