Quitting Zyprexa going back to Cymbalta

by Matt360, Jan 14, 2008 05:03PM
I have been on most all SSRI's...the one I had the best luck with was Cymbalta 60mg...after a year or so, it stopped working so my doctor put me on Zyprexa 5mg which was great for the first couple months.  Recently I have realized that it has made me feel crazy, I wake up after a few hours of sleep with racing thoughts, out of control energy, and not wanting to do anything.  I went to my doctor and got him to put me back on Cymbalta.  My question is should I take my Cymbalta and also half dosage of my Zyprexa and slowly come of it?  I have read all the horror stories of Zyprexa withdrawal.  I also take Ativan 1mg and Benazepril.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hate when doctors subscribe anti-psychotics like Zyprexa off label. Its for schizophrenia, and really should only be used for such. Its no surprise that you are having bizarre thoughts on it. As for your questions, I don't know how you should do the switch.  Whatever your body tells you. Best of luck.
