To anyone on Wellbutrin

This is my 10th day of Wellbutrin 150 mg, with 150 mg Efexor. (Added 150 mg Wellbutrin to counteract the sideeffects of Efexor, I ahve been using efexor for a year) Still no improvement only side effects. I am still tired all the time and sexual dysfunction has not improved.

For sideefects I am always shaky and dizzy and I also have palpitations and feel a bit confused. Also some extra dizziness seems to come in waves.

My biggest problem is that I am so afraid of seizures (probably a part of my GAD) I think about it all the time, I also live alone and am afraid that I will have a seizure when I am alone. I also read on for instance askapatient.com and read that quite many have had seizures with Wellbutrin also on the lowest dose. I really want this to work and I am so mad about my self for obsessing over the seizure risk.. So what can I do about all this? How long should I keep waiting for it to work? And I cant go on being so afraid of seizures.. Have you got any advices for me?

I hope you find some improvement.  Effexor or cymbalta worked well for me.  But wellbutrin did nothing except with first week, where i was racing around. I tried it for 8 weeks, sorry.  I hope it works for you.

I was on 150mg. The side effects were , so much energy the first 10 days, no appetite and also i have to say some suicidal thoughts, which i never had before or since.  Then i was depressed after the 10 days.

Then nothing, i waited til the eight week mark and i felt nothing i was expecting something great, sorry. Just down.

Maybe someone else was on it longer or had more success and can reply ?

Perhaps your difficulty is that both wellbutrin and effexor are stimulating.  I've heard of wellbutrin being used with ssris because of sexual problems, but not with snris, which target norepinephrine receptors and are therefore stimulating as wellbutrin is stimulating.  You might be just overstimulated.  Did a psychiatrist put on these together, or a regular doc?

I would agree with Paxiled based on what I've read.  It seems more common to use prozac and wellbutrin.  But, do not stop taking Effexor without tapering down.  I am in the process of tapering down now, so I can relate to your side effects from effexor.  It's a good AD, but the libido stuff stinks and coming off it too.

Efexor is only stimulating at doses over 150 mg.
I am on 150 mg and Efexor really help my anxiety and depression , but makes me tired all the times and also gives me sexual dysfunction. That is why I wanted to add wellbutrin.

Effexor is always stimulating, on purpose.  It targets norepinephrine receptors.  The fact it isn't stimulating for you is great, it means your main problem is depression, not anxiety, but the fact you're having problems means something is giving you those problems.  We're just trying to help, but you must make your own decisions.
