Topirimate and my periods

Has anybody had abnormal menstrual cycle while taking tompirimate (topamax) I am very worried that there may be something else wrong with me. Sorry to be graphic but I've had a very lightened flow, with dark brown blood and the beginning and the end. I read somewhere that depression can do this to your period and as depression is one of the side effects of this drug is it possible that this is a casual link? Or does this sound more like implantation spotting to you? I haven't had unprotected sex and my period was on time just with these strage goings on. Please help. I have been taking topirimate for around 6 weeks for my migraines but reducing the dose because it isn't working for me.

Omgeee literally the exact same, I'm like what in the world... Long periods.. But I just started the medicine. I think this is my second month. The brown scared me. But it's nice to know others are experiencing this.

Before topamax my period was every 28 days. I took it  topamax for 3 months and never had my period... I told my doc., he just laughed and said maybe I was starting menopause . I stopped taking topamax one month ago, my period came back 2 days ago!
The weight loss was great , but it wasn't worth the hair loss or the change in my cycle.

I started Topamax like 2 months ago and I got my period for like a month straight and this month I haven't gotten it yet, but my gyno says it's normal. I take the birth control pill and topamax decreases the effectiveness, so that's the main reason why mine's all screwed up, but I hear it's normal.

I only took it for a week (25 mg) and then stopped because I didn't like the way it made me feel, but my period this month was practically non-existent. It was a day late and all I got was a few spots of mostly old blood. Thought I was pregnant, but it's been 7 days and all the tests are negative. I can only assume it's from the week of Topomax I took, as I've never missed one before. Also didn't have the normal breast tenderness that accompanies a period.

Ok, so I have stopped taking it as it wasn't doing anything for me and now my period is late? I'm not pregnant... Is this just because if the change in what medication I am taking?

This is exactly what happened to me and now I haven't had a period in 3 months. I had a pap last month and my doctor said it could also be from the 30 lbs I lost in the last couple of months.  He didn't seem too concerned by it.

I have epilepsy. And was on topimax for about a year when I was 14.. I dropped from a size 12 to a size 6-8 lost all appetite, just one of the side effects, I also started with irregular periods. I'm not on the topimax anymore due to how much weight I lost but if it's a worry for you I would insult your doctor. There are so many side effects of all medications, but if you explain to your doctor what is happening they may be able to suggest an alternative. Hope this helps
