Wellbutrin sr and alcohol

I was just prescribed wellbutrin sr. I started it today. I have been reading the side effects of this drug and also the warnings of this drug. I am petrified of what this drug can do to me, with or without asprin, cigarettes, and partying. I am currently a bartender. I tend to drink very heavily on weekends and am wondering how the alcohol will effect me while taking wellbutrin sr. i take two doses of it a day equaling out to 300mg a day. How  bad are the two (alcohol and bupropion)  when put together? I smoke a pack a day too... what can happen to me?

I take the same dose also, It is suggested not to take and consume alcohol. The meds do enhance the effects though I only found that it doesn't take as much for me to feel buzzed. If I do plan on drinking I only take one dose that day in the am. I don't wake up with a hang over, headache, etc. just feeling a bit groggy. When I was taking Paxil I had to take it before bed. I couldn't drink and take this at all. It would make me sick to my stomach along with a headache. Some times I even got sick, only when I consumed heavily. I've had better results with Wellbutrin Sr. As long as your not drinking constantly and excessively no long term affects should effect you. My  mother also has no problems with this and alcohol.
I would try to be sure, One time shouldn't hurt you.

i believe it is suggested to not consume alcohol when you are taking antidepressants.  i have had a few drinks since i started taking antidepressants but can not tolerate alcohol on these meds.  i think the meds enhance the effects of the alcohol - dizziness, headache, ect.

don't know; i wouldn't drink but that's just me.  i'm on the same dose of wellbutrin as you.
