Zoloft and alcohol?

Hi,

I'm currently on 75 mg of zoloft. I haven't had any alcohol since starting this medicine last month. I'd like to have one beer tonight. I called my doctor and asked if this was ok. She said she doesn't recommend mixing any alcohol at all with these medications. Does this mean I can never enjoy a drink again while on Zoloft? Will one beer really affect me negatively?

I've been on Zoloft since may 2013 and my psychiatrist says a glass every now and then shouldn't do any harm. Getting trashed will lol I've always been fine even with a couple of wine glasses so don't worry so much if its just a beer. Then again, everyone's v different so I don't wana giv u the wrong advice. :)

My pdoc says no alcohol. The meds don't work as well when you drink and this is very important. The other thing is that alcohol is a depressant and people who suffer from depression should especially not drink. You will find people who do but just remember what your dr said,  he knows best. I quit drinking once I started meds, 6 yrs ago and found it to be no big deal. If your at a bar for instance get a coke or some people like to make it look like a drink and order orange juice with cranberry or pineapple. Whatever you like. From my experience you get use to it after a while and in reality it really isn't important. Don't feel like your missing out.
