Zoloft

by angelfrombuv3221985, Dec 16, 2007 11:56PM
I have been on Zoloft for about four months. I had health insurance for a good bit, however due to a workers comp battle I lost those benefits at my job. Now workers compensation is sending me no more money and I am out of Zoloft. I was depending on this paycheck to arrive.... and it never did.. i am about to lose my place and everything. I am really dizzy and sick to my stomach. Please help I have to come off of Zoloft Cold turkey with no way of filling Rx's.. this is when I need my meds the most!

im sorry to hear all this.  are you seeing a specialist/psychiatrist/psychiatric nurse practioner?  if you feel like you have to be off of the meds, talk to the specialist to try to do ween it off. sometimes dr's office offers coupons or samples of zoloft.. so good luck.

Did you know that Zoloft has a generic brand now?  I can't remember the name of it; I recently switched to Cymbalta.  But I do remember that my RX was only 8 bucks.

zoloft does have a generic--sertraline.  it is signifacantly cheaper.  coming off zoloft cold turkey can be a drag for sure.  you will feel "zappy"  things in your head, even when weaning acutally.  but the problem with cold turkey is that it can leave you in a pretty dark place.  you may experience depressive symptoms.  i'm so sorry to hear this.   i'm sure, if you go to any hospital and say you must speak to a psychiatrist immediatley, they will let you and hopefully he/she can give you some in the mean time.  but it is pretty important to find a way to wean off if you have to stop.  no one should have to stop cold turkey.  my pharmacy used to give me a few extra when my analyst was away and unavailable to write a new scipt back when i was on it.   perhaps they may offer you the same convience.  ask and persist.  i'm hoping someone will have the presence of mind to help you.
