annoying zoloft and effexor side effects.

Is it a normal side effect to be overheated and sweaty all the time while taking antidepressants as I'm finding with most I have this side effect. I'm currently on Zoloft but was effexor both are doing the same. I'm 43 and don't think I'm going through menopause. Any answers. Also I have a jaw clenching issue with the Zoloft.

I am coming off Effexor now. I had all of these symptoms. I have gained 40lbs. I never sweat but now the night sweats... Then I sweat in places I didn't know people sweat. I had a brain injury and a year after was forced to take this med. I started taking it and thought my injury was really bad. It turns out all the side effects are what the Dr. said my injury was. memory - balance - weight gain- sweating - visual problems- confusion - don't give a crap - etc. We all jump to take these drugs and don't even consider the fact that we are screwing our bodies up. Mine is so messed up now that I,m not sure it will go back. We are messing with our brain chemicals.                                                                             Remember the benefits out weigh the side effects. Bull crap I'm more depressed now due to the side effects. I'm a health nut. I eat well. Grow my own food, raise chickens, buy only farm fresh beef, and pork from the neighboring farms. I never beleived in pills. Now I am living proof why.....

I've been on zoloft since november and had to increase my dose 2.5 weeks ago. I also have some mild jaw clenching, but sorry no sweating problems. I've also been on effexor the only withdrawl from that med was the weird seeing things twice (can't explain). However, I have horrible depression and am going through a rough patch right now with anxiety and severe depression. the dr. increased the dosage to 100mg. has been working for you? besides the sweating problems.  Do you take in the am or pm?

As Maddie said, side effects can vary.  I experienced the sweating, but it was not so extreme that I had to stop taking med, Effexor.  It caused my neck to always be wet.  Of course I live in Florida, so sweating is no big deal here!  My biggest problem with Effexor was that after a year my face broke out in horrible large bumps.  Dermatologist said it was making a mild case of Rosacea extremely bad.  There was also the 50 lb weight gain:).

As Wellbutrin is quite stimulating, I imagine it could cause sweating.  Don't remember that as a side effect when I took it years ago.  I tried it again after cancer, and it just caused diarrhea:).

The trick is to keep trying.  And balance side effects, which sometimes go away, with feeling energetic again.

I've been on both of them for about 3 months. I've always had sweating problems but never like this. Just by walking up and down the stairs at work it looks like I've run a marathon. It's ridiculous. I would stay away from Wellbutrin as it seems to be the one that is increasing my sweating.

Hi, I am on 150mg Effexor daily, and have no side effects.

I have had different side effects with other anti-depressants.  I guess we all react differently.  What suits some, does not suit others.

Yes it's horrible I don't want to go anywhere cause I'm afraid I'll sweat and have a big wet spot down my back I can't do my hair cause as soon as I leave the house and air conditioning  my head is soaked. WTH?  I want to go off the Zoloft but my depression just kicks my butt then and I don't want to get off the couch... I thought about the wellbutrin but just don't know if it will be any different. ugh!!!! How long have you been taking depression meds? me on and off for about 10 years now.

I take wellbutrin and recently stopped zoloft. My psych told me that wellbutrin increases sweating. I have horrible night sweats and start sweating at the drop of a hat during the day. And I'm only 25 so it has to be the medication. It's so bad that I've considered getting off the wellbutrin as well. I'd rather be deppresed than soaked with sweat all day!
