anti depressants and sex

i have tried many anti depressants..but none without sexual side effects...so i take none...and i suffer...alot emotionally....i probably already know the answer to this question....but i will ask it anyway....is there a pill (anti depressant) out there besides welbutrine (which doesnt work for my depression)..that will help my depression problem without the sexual loss..?

hey....thanks for the reply.....but unfortunately....the side effects were definitely erectile disfunction for me...the interest was there...but unable to perform.....one of the worst i have used was effexor. thanks...donny

One more thing I would like to add to this discussion: I tried wellbutrin once.  As soon as it was built up in my system (a couple of days), I busted out in the worst huge itchy hives all over my body.  I itched so badly I was in tears when i got to the Doctor.  He gave me a shot in the butt that was supposed to make it stop, but it didn't work, so I had to go back, for another, bigger dose of the anti-itch shot.  Just wanted you all to know that allergic reactions to wellbutrin can happen. - Blu

Don't know what meds you've tried but its my understanding that Welbutrin doesn't have any sexual side effects. May want to talk to your doc about it if you haven't tried that one yet.

The sustained release formulation fared almost as well with a rate of 25%. In contrast, the SSRIs (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft and Celexa), venlafaxine (Effexor) and mirtazapine (Remeron) averaged about 40%. When subjects were removed who had other probable causes of sexual dysfunction, the results were even better. Wellbutrin's rate dropped to 7% with the other medications dropping to between 23-30%. "

Hi Donny.  I have also been on many different medications for this.  I choose happiness over sex drive now.  I still have a good marriage, and will give in to my sweet hubby when he starts to bug me about it. :-)  Could you do the same sort of thing?  I don't know how this works with men... does it cause erectile dysfunction?  Or do you just not think about it?  I just don't think about it, myself, not on purpose, but because of the meds.  Hubby has to 'remind' me. - Blu

Hopefully someone with some info on this will be on at some point.  I do know that AD meds do affect your sex life.  Have you discussed this with your doctor?
