depression and anxiety problems

I have been in and out of urgent care centers and ER's but I am confused about the symptoms that I am having and the medications that I can take. I have gone in every time for the same complaint. I suffer these symptoms: lightheadedness, dizziness, constantly short of breath, heart or chest pressure. I sometimes feel like i'm going to die. The other night I went in to an urgent care and they checked my vitals. My blood pressure when i walked in was 150/100. My temp was fine and oxygen was fine, so the nurse said. They did an EKG and chest xray and they said they were okay. I was told that i had anxiety chest pain and they injected diazepam 5 mg and then a nurse came in to check my vitals again. My blood pressure was 124/87 or so.  I was then sent home that night.  I still feel that pressure in my chest and it truly worries me even though they keep telling me it's not heart related. I had seen a psychiatrist the day before this for the first time in some clinic and he told me that I was depressed and I should take Paxil. I'm afraid of taking it because I take seizure meds (carbamazepine) and I am now taking Diazepam as needed. Do you believe as well that this is in fact  all due to anxiety and depression and not something else. Also, I need to know if this medication is the only option for me. And does Paxil interact with Diazepam and does paxil interact with carbamazepine? Does carbamazepine interact with diazepam and vice versa?  Please help!  Write me back! I am a single mom of two small children who is scared that something will happen to me.

As just being diagnosed with thyroid problems, I would ask to have thyroid levels checked by your primary as well.  Some of the symptoms you are experiencing, you can also experience with thyroid problems.

Contact your pharmacist or any pharmacist about any interactions, they are your best resource for this. If you get all your medications at the same place, they know what all you are taking and if they see an interaction problem, they won't fill the prescription but will call your doctor for an alternative. Although anxiety can cause what you are experiencing, I would follow up with a Cardiologist to be on the safe side and to put your mind at ease.  I know how scary this is for you, and fear just adds to the anxiety.  If you see a cardiologist and he tells you everything is fine, accept this and move on.  Since you have had this often with no other problems, chances are it's anxiety.  But see a specialist to be sure.  Take care.
