depression or anxiety?

Iv been going through bouts of horrible pain since last August. Lots of arm, chest, and head pain. Its all stabbing pain, feeling like shrill stabs at what part is hurting.

Iv been tested with EKGs, ECGs, Treadmill test, MRI on head and all came back normal, theyv sent me to neurologists and they see nothing out of the normal.

Many people have said this may be signs of depression or anxiety, Im a young male 17 yrs old. Quite stressed about my every day life regarding family issues, finances etc.

I just need to figure out whats wrong with me, Im tired of hurting, its a painful and tiring dilema that is holding back my life, Im very desperate to do anything to be cured.

With all of these negatives in health tests, could this ultimately be my issue?

I'm glad you will be seeing the doctor Monday.  I know how frustrating it can be to have pain and not get relief from it.  I have tried every, and I mean every treatment and modality there is out there for my chronic headaches and chronic pain, and I still don't have any relief.  It's part of my life.  I'm trying a new acupuncturist, but even she thinks my "case" is complicated because my pain is so rampant all over my body, particularly my neck and lower back areas.  She suggested a regimen by a doctor who specializes in Fibromyalgia, but it's expensive, and I can't afford it.  My headache practitioner said she's going to look into it, and see if she can find some info on his regimen, and perhaps it'll be cheaper.  His name is Dr. Brice Vichery, I believe.  If you find our that you DO have Fibromyalgia, you may want to look him up.  I have several websites on him, so just let me know.  Have you tried acupuncture?  It's something to think about.    Please let me know how you make out at the doctor's Monday. I'll be thinking good thoughts about you, and crossing my fingers.  Try to get some rest tonight.  Things will be o.k.  Sometimes, it takes time.  Please hang in there, and write to me anytime.

Love,

Ellen

I am going to see the doctor monday and I will be able to further inspect the possibility of Fibromyalgia.

You have no idea how much youv helped me, just reading about the condition gives me hope, the symptoms they speak of are exactly dead on to what I get.

Im actually crying as I type this, hopefully this may be the answer.

Thank you so much Ellen,

Paul

Hi, Paul.  Have you consulted with a Rheumatologist?  I have Fibromyalgia, and some of what you're describing sounds like Fibromyalgia.  Keep in mind, I'm not a doctor.  It's just a thought.  Sure, it could be anxiety.  Lots of things cause anxiety.  Are you seeing a therapist?  I advocate medication and therapy together.  I see an excellent therapist; a social worker.  It took me years and a lot of other therapist until I found a good one.  That doesn't mean it takes everybody a long time to find a good one.  I suggest you consult with a good therapist, and maybe check out and see if Fibromyalgia could be in the picture.  Keep me posted.  I wish you the best of luck.  Hang in there.

Love,

Ellen
