effexor xr to lexapro...help!?!

I  went back to my old dr with a article I found on the internet that explained all my symptoms.....so he put me back on lexapro  the smallest dose possible...2.5mg( i have to cut up a 10mg pill)....that was last tuesday i didnt feel any better so i bumped it up to 5 mg  today to see how i do...cuz im suppose to be weaning off my effexor xr 37.5mg....both the dr and pharmacist said to take my effexor every other day then every 3 rd day etc... Does this sound right? I thought you couldnt do that with the xr version..Ive had nasty side effects coming off the effexor, im so scared to get worse but I want to be better so badly..Ive tried lexapro before i think at 10 mg and had side effects( cannot remember what they were)....but Ive trie dlike 16 different meds so the dr wanted to try this agin..my as well i guess....I tried a new dr and she gave me a med for my thyroid to help with the fatigue, the pharmacist was appalled she prescribed this, and without testing my thyroid first, if i started taking it It could have messe dup my thyroid cuz my body woulds top producing it...anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks

Hi,

I don't understand why you don't do what the doc advises. And why you don't trust them. Can you explain? If you don't like what they tell you don't waste your money on them.

They are not there to lie to you and internet articles are not something I would read in preference to a doctor's experience. Ever.

37.5 mgs is the minimum Effexor dose and rarely does it have therapeutic value at that level. So stopping it is a bad move as you and the doc have not given it enough of a chane to help. It usually works at higher doses where it does help people. You also need to stay on it for a minimum of 6 weeks to get any benefit but at that low dose I'd think it was a total waste.

Whatever you and the doc agree on, try sticking to it. SIde effects are listed on doco given to you with every med. Read it and find out how long such will last. Often the first 2 weeks is hard but then they settle down and start helping.

You need to be patient and focus on working WITH the doc, not AGAINST the doc's advice. They don't lie to you. Do you think they do?

Ive been on this dose of effxxor for 4 years and it worked up until last year. That is why I have to swicth. the article didnt say anything about meds just symptoms. The dr doesnt know what to do with me is the problem. So he keeps trying stuff ive already been on,  i tried a new dr but she ried to put me on thyroid meds, which would have messed my thyroid up since there was nothing wrong with it.. so back to square one.  usually the side effects dont go away for me, i usually try a med for at least 6 months, but to no avail the side effects stay. Im just very sensitive to meds...
