getting off Zoloft

I have been on Zolft for about two years now because of a life change. My husband of 34 years decided that he no longer wanted to be married to me. Since then I have gained 25 pounds. I would like to wean off of this drug. I tried to wean off of it myself by cutting it down from 100 mgs. a day to 50mg. a day... then 50 every other day and so forth. My question is by going off Zolft will it affect my blood pressure? I had a real bad headache yesterday and noticed that my head was pulsing while I was lying down so I took my blood pressure. It was 145/99 and my pulse was 90. I took it several times. It is down this morning to 120/86 and my headache is gone, but I'm wondering if this had anything to do with being off Zolft too quick?

Before taking zoloft or other antidepressants.. my blood pressure was on the high side.  While on zoloft, it came down to a healthy level.  I attribute this to the zoloft leveling off my mood.  I was calmer on zoloft, so my blood pressure wasn't elevated.

I withdrew from zoloft cold turkey, and now my bloodpressure is on the higher side.  It went from 114 to 130.  Now that I am off of zoloft, I am more high strung, agitated and emotional charged.  

So yes, I believe that zoloft can have an indirect relationship with your blood pressure but I am not sure that your symptoms are due necessarily to a rapid withdrawal.  .
