Well.... That plan is going to hurt like hell even with a very slow taper.
I used to take 350Mgs Effexor a day for many years and that taper was like walking thru hell for 8 weeks.
The withdrawl I had was beyond disturbing to say the least. I'm not saying you can't do it, but it's gonna be a rough ride so buckel your seat belt on tight.
What your main worry should be is that once the medication is out of your system, you will see a return of your depression. As sure as the sun will rist tomorrow, that depression will return.
On the other hand if your determined to do it then it can be done. I would be wise and consult your doctor first before doing this.
The best thing to do if you need to go off a medication is ask your psychiatrist for a specific titration schedule. I have done so following their directions but when I did it on my own (before my current recovery) or without their specific directions, things were very unsafe. Also ask yourself why you want to go off the medication. If its a matter of side effects you can ask your psychiatrist for other approved alternative mood stabilizers and anti-depressents. If you believe you can go without it think what it was prescribed for and what it was like before and discuss that with your psychiatrist. Best not to do this alone.
