hyperventilation syndrome

hi, i'm only 20. now i'm having a hyperventilation syndrome and i'm worried because it may get worse.
i can't even think too much about small things, well; meaning that i'm not that stressed out, but my heart would beat really fast and feel dizzy.
so, what do i do, what is the best treatment for me?

OOPs, forgot to add.....So Tann ,I guess what I'm trying to say is to go seek Counseling OR a Doctor that can determine if you are having Panic Attacks, Anxiety, or something else.

After that, and IF you have Anxiety, your Doc can prescribe a medication to help you with your breathing horrors. (...since I know how horrible those "hyperventilating" attacks can be).

hi Tann22,

Ok, I saw you post and noticed nobody posted on it, so here I am again LOL!

Well,  unbelievably enough,  I too expereinced what you're experiencing Tann---and once again, when I was in College!

I did not know what my hyperventalating was all about. I was under a lot of stress because of my College work load. I thought I had asthma! That's how bad it way!

Well, come to find out, it was actually anxiety.

I went to my College Counselor and he directed me to the University's Counseling Center. I went there (it was FREE) and they told me I had anxiety.

They were correct.

I was also suffering from Panic Attacks. All basically related to my heavy College work load and all the pressures I was placing myself on.

Anyhow, I was placed on Zoloft.
It really helped my Panic Attacks.
On Zoloft I never had those awful (& what I thought were) "hyperventilating attacks" ever again. Zoloft took care of that. yipee!

I graduated, and etc, etc...
