Not all depression is biological.  Depression can result from the death of a loved one, broken relationship, or things that happened to us in childhood that we may or may not remember. Some people are not able to cope with some things in life, and depression sets in, and it is temporary.  A chemical imbalance on the other hand is forever.  This is very poor advice!!!!!

I used to get the same feeling when I saw my therapist. Finnally I figured out it was easier and less expensive to call a friend and take my meds.

Therapy is for Married couples that need help resolving marital issues. It can't fix a brain that is depressed due to biological reasons.

Are you on any medication?  It sounds like you need to be.  Obviously this social worker isn't helping, maybe you need a psychiatrist.  But truthfully, it was a social worker that gave me some simple advice that turned my life around.  But everyone's different, and I still ended up seeing a psychiatrist for other issues.
