lexapro - weight loss?

by sts77, Apr 15, 2009 10:27AM
hi everyone... i have a history of MDD. i was on zoloft + therapy for several years, went off and have been fine mood-wise for ~5 years. i recently realized that i'm depressed again and went to my gp. he put me on lexapro, and i've been taking it for a month now. i've had some unpleasant side effects (nausea first 2 weeks, now serious insomnia :-S), and now weight loss/no appetite. my depression usually causes me to lose my appetite & lose weight & not sleep. however, my mood is drastically improving. i am getting nervous about the food issue though - i've lost 10 lbs in 2 months, and i have to remind myself to eat all of the time b/c i'm never hungry. i can't afford to lose another pound... it could be the depression, but i don't think so b/c i'm going so well emotionally right now. has anyone else had similar side effects? everything i've read is about weight gain! thanks so much.
