You are being told a lot of things... I don't consider Prozac as being stimulating or any SSRI... You have more chance to get stimulating effect with an SNRI or Wellbutrin.
SamAE is right about the Adderall that could trigger more anxiety and I think we already talked about it.
I took prozac myself & got absolutely NOTHING out of it. The only bad effects I had were because I felt like I wasn't taking anything (i tried stopping meds I had been on for years on my own for a couple months, then went on prozac so that's what I mean by nothing). I would think wellbutrin has more of a stimulant effect. Because prozac is just an ssri & is simply treated for different forms of depression & some anxiety. Wellbutrin is sometimes used for add/adhd (not fda approved for though) because it's chemical form has a stimulant-like quality. With all the other meds I took (mostly ssri's) they always made me feel a little more drowsy. But my dr told me not to take my wellbutrin to close to the bedtime as it can act as a stimulant & keep my from sleeping.
I was also told that adding stimulants like adderall or ritalin while taking an antidepressant can trigger more anxiety
mm i was told prozac is one of the most stimulating antidepressants..i give it till june when i see new dr and ask for a change if no better with upping it back to 40..i sure do have aches and pains and this constant worry..dr said prozac has something in it thats suppose to help with obsevive thingking
I think a beer or 2 a night couldn't hurt and it's safe with your medications. Lots of people are on Prozac and Adderall because Prozac tend to make you lethargic.
I mean I think we can consider a beer or 2 at night as a medication in your case but if you were alcoholic in the past I guess it could be easy to relapse. Anyway if you feel safe and capable of drinking only small amount of alcohol it is up to you but be aware that high quantity of alcohol with your medications is not safe at all.

so is that dangerous several pharmists have told me lots of people are on adderall prozac and xanx..dr upped the prozac to 20 mg in am and 20 mg at 2 pm....plus when i saw him he said since i was so unhappy about not drinking anymore (its been 2 1/2 years) he said to drink two beers a night and chill and live like i used to happy....for 6 years i drank beer with xaanx and depakote..but im kinda scared about drinking even though i miss it so much and i was the happiest person those years...what do u think
They don't cancel each others out directly it's just that the Xanax will prevent some dopamine to get max affinity with the receptors and also Xanax is a downer while Adderall is a stimulant. It's not like you cancel the Adderall but you reduce it's effectiveness considerably.
Adderall is upping your blood pressure while Xanax could reduce it.

i have tried so many meds over the past two years...i have been on benzos 20 years and i have tried to get off themwith no sucsess...i have noticed my blood pressure goes kinda high then normal and then this morning low 90/70 this concernsd me...i have been dianosed also as a hyperchrodriac and need deep councling...i have a councler but we never have discussses that so im going to tell him i need help in that area and as far as adderall and xaan they dont cancel each other out according dr and several pharmmists
I don't know if you are counseling as well but that could be of help.
You can try a different antidepressants like a SNRI (I would not use use on Adderall personally, other SSRIs or you can try tricyclic antidepressants, i recommend a second generation tricyclic like nortriptyline that is taken at night that haves sedative proprieties which could work well with Adderall in the day but your not getting full benefits of Adderall if you are using Xanax at the same time. Personally I would get rid of the Adderall and try to a withdrawal from Xanax and maybe go with an SNRI. Maybe adding Wellbutrin with the SNRI or other antidepressants. See, you can try different combination and the odds are good that you will eventually find something that works.
Anyway it's probably all issues you will discuss with your new doctor in June. I don't know if you already tried anything else but sometimes it can take a while until you find a combination or even a single med that suits you.
Finally, no you are not rushing things 2 months is well enough to know if a medication work or not considering the fact you even tried different dosage.
