If your anxiety has a "root cause" like a past traumatic event in your life, then often with therapy you can and do get better.  But your depression is bad, and you have to realize that depression can be like any other medical condition requiring daily medication to control the symptoms.  Please don't get caught up in because it's a "mental" problem that you should be able to handle it on your own, because we rarely can.  If you were told you had diabetes, wouldn't you take the needed medication?  Depression is no different.  For most of us, medication gave us our lives back....it did me.  Why do you not want to take medication?  Nobody can force you to take it, it's your choice, but think of how much better your life would be!  Peace and happiness again, wanting to live and not hurt yourself!  Please try to remain open minded with the medications because they can totally turn your life around and for the better.  You're just afraid of the unknown with the psychiatrist, but they are sooo understanding of where you're coming from and truly want to help. I hope this helps, and we're always here for you!

He will ask you about your life, how you feel about things that have hapened in your life and go from there.  He will probably prescribe medication and therapy for you.  Most of us have a root cause for being depressed and in therapy we can learn what this is, deal with it and move on.  Don't be over-doing it with your medications, you have to realize that they can and will help you. You need to be very honest with them and also let them know if you're on any medication and how much.  If you don't and they prescribe something for you, they could interact with each other and cause you some serious issues.  They're there to help you, let them do this so you can get your life back.  Take care.
