Acne pattern

I started getting acne when I was 11. I'm now 18 (ended puberty or close to ending it) and my breakouts are less frequent and less severe. Lately (for the past few months or year or so) I've only gotten pimples on the right side of my face. (I wear makeup all over my face so its not that one side is getting something that the other isnt, and I wash it twice daily.) I was wondering if anyone knew why the acne is only occuring on the right side? Any input is appreciated!

Acne on only one side of the face, especially on the lower jaw, is probably do to sleeping with that side of your face on the pillow.  Warmth and moisture (sweat and/or drool) will increase bacteria growth on your skin thereby increasing the chance of getting more pimples/acne.  Try to sleep with your mouth closed and facing uphill to keep the drool inside your mouth.  Change your pillow case as often as possible (every night if you can).  Wash your face every morning as soon as you get up.
Also cell phone usage on one side can cause this as cell phones can be full of bacteria.  Some people also rest their face on their hands a lot (often only on one side), when doing certain activities, such as watching TV (again moisture, sweating and bacteria from your hands).  Wash your hands and clean your cell phone often. Try to avoid pressing your cell phone against your face or use the speakerphone option or headphone jack.  Try to avoid touching your face and especially resting your face on your hand for long periods of time.

I have noticed that I have acne on one-side of my face (the right side) AND on the right side of my back, along the outside.  I'm wondering if it might be because I sleep on my right side.  Maybe you who have already posted sleep on one side where your acne is?

i know your frustrations.  I have a somewhat odd case of acne, where it occurs on just my left side.  i can't figure it out for the life of me.  anyhow, acne is never regular.  my advice, when washing do not scrub more on that side, it can make it worse.  furthermore, eventually it will get better on that side; it might take a really really long time though - this has happened to me before where i get acne on one side and not the other.
hang in there and good luck!

Thanks for answering me. Yes I'm right handed so I almost always have my cell phone to my right ear, but it hardly ever touches my face. I didnt know that could be a possibility. No I dont spray hairspray on my pillow...what does that do?

Do you use a cell phone alot on that side of your face? Cell phones are a host of bacteria and germs. I have a bad habit of resting my chin on mine and sometimes get the zits where the phone was. Or maybe it's something else...like,your pillow perhaps? Are you spraying hairspray there?
