Adult who has long-time blackheads

Discussions of blackheads online seem to never touch upon my specific situation.

I'm not a teenager with raging hormones, my blackheads don't come and go, I'm not looking for a quick fix or home remedies.

I'm 25 years old, and my nose has been covered with dozens of tiny blackheads ever since I was 12 or so.  Each one is very small, a little darker than my skin, and they do not protrude (i.e., they're not squeezable.  there are too many, anyway).  I bathe every day, I have good hygiene, but I've always had a fairly oily face.

I have tried exfoliants, which includes washes containing pertinent amounts of salicylic acid for weeks and weeks at a time, and there was no improvement.

Is there anything else I should try before I seek out a dermatologist?  Can a dermatologist even help me, or will I forever remain victim to my genes?
