Again with the itchin'?

I have no rash or allergy as I have switched soaps, and detergents to test that possibility. During the course of the day I will scratch at my back till I bleed. Other particular areas but not limited to are, my forearms near the bend and the same for the thighs to both sides of the knees. When I scratch it just gets worse, almost like ants biting me. My chest and stomach are also popular as well as my scalp at times. When I scratch one area almost always another area starts too. WHAT'S THE DEAL?

I thank you for the response. I was trying to avoid the dermatologist for now. This effect has been going on at an increasingly annoying frequency over several years. It usually happened when changing from work clothes to casual home wear. That's why I experimented with detergent. I believe it may be dry skin because it becomes more prevalent during winter and goes away after showering. I am in no way stressed. And it is immediately quelled with lotion or witch hazel. I detest lotion's application (and witch hazel's) and at work is inconveinient. Alas I may have to deal with it. Thanks again Doctor.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
To me it looks like an itch- scratch- itch cycle rather than any skin condition causing itching. the other possibility is of neurodermatitis. Neurodermatitis develops when nerve endings in the skin become irritated, triggering a severe itch-scratch-itch cycle. Common causes of nerve irritation include an insect bite and emotional stress. I suggest you to get an examination done from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
