Anal rash?

My anal area itches a lot, especially inside my anus.  Sometimes it itches so bad I can't sleep!  It has been at least 2 weeks since I had this problem.  When the itch initially started (it wasn't that itchy at the time), I thought it was only a normal anal tear, but it kept getting worse.  I started using Preparation-H about 5 days ago, and it seems to only alleviate the itch for a while.

I have had anal itching in the past but clotrim/beta dirpop was always my silver bullet, with just one application it would go away
I have always had sweating my anal area not sure if that is the reason.

BUT the problem is clotrim/beta dirpop is no longer working :( The itching is severe. At night I cannot sleep or it wakes if I am sleeping, the itch so strong that I must scratch relieving while I scratch but it comes back in a few minutes, this last for couple of hours. One time I scratched so hard it bleed.  Then during the day my anus is pain I guess because of the scratching. This is pretty much every night now the past 2 weeks.
It's affecting my life seriously.
I thought it had been hemorrhoid related but my gastroenterology says the hemorrhoid is minor and even had a sigmoidschope done and he said my rectum is fine.

He recommends I make an appointment with a dermatologist.
But I need relieve today!! I can't wait another week  for an appointment.

Hi,

There could be several causes for the symptoms you are having. You should reconsult with your doctor to rule out the following possible causes -

'Perfumes, chemicals, or dye on toilet paper can cause an allergic reaction.

Moisture from sweat or diarrhea may cause itching. If the anal skin stays wet, the skin begins to break down.

Some foods irritate the anus when they are expelled during a bowel movement. The most common culprits are caffeine, chocolate, beer, nuts, dairy products, and spicy food.

Infections such as pinworms, yeast, and genital warts can cause itching.

Hemorrhoids, which cause painful swelling of blood vessels in the anal area, can cause itching.

Cancer, in rare instances, may be a cause.'

Therte are certain factors which predispose to the risk of developing anal itching as a symptom.

'Factors that put people most at risk for anal itching are as follows:

Diabetes

Recent antibiotic use

Chronic dry skin conditions such as psoriasis and seborrhea

Profuse sweating.'

Do discuss these with your doctor and exclude any possible causes in your case.

Post us if you need any further information and let us know about how you are doing.

Regards.
