Hi,
There are many options available for scar marks.
Local applications, systemic drugs, injectables, and creams are some of the treatment options based on the location and degree of scar. on the other hand, if superficial, the best result may be obtained by local application as well as the use of make-up to lighten the lesion.
Oral prednisolone may not be very helpful for the scar, it is perhaps intended to keep the angioedema under control.
Hope this helped.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking of buying a skin lightener from a skincare salon. The scar looks like a bruise within the tissue of the skin so it's not something that looks like it's going to go away on its own. the last attack I had was about 3 weeks ago and the prednisone took care of the swelling, but once the swelling went down, it left a bruise like mark on my face.
Hi,
You could try some over the counter demelanising agents and see if they help - be sure to check out whether you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
If your symptoms persist, it would be best to consult a skin specialist and see what treatment options are available in your case.
Let us know about how you are doing and if you need any other information.
Regards.
Thanks for the feedback. I went out and purchased a bleaching cream containing Hydroquinone. I have mixed feelings about this cream because I have read that it is linked to leukemia (not proven in humans) in high doses; however, it seems dermatologists recommend the cream in doses higher than those available OTC (mine is currently 2% Hydroquinone).
I'm afraid to use it, but if dermatologist don't see a potential hazard, I am comfortable with using it. What do you suggest?
Hi,
I agree with you. However, I would still suggest that if the symptoms persist and the application does not seem to be helping in a span of 2-3 weeks, then it is time to call in the experts.
Best regards
