Any help for 10 year problem?

For the last 10 years I have had a problem with my scalp. It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP). But I don't think this is normal dandruff, it isn't like dry flakes that fall off, it is as though it sticks to my scalp (which is very greasy not matter how much I wash it) and just builds up getting itchier and itchier until I give in to scratching it, thats when the flakes come off along with loads of my hair. The flakey skin feels greasy (possibly this could be wet dandruff, which I hadn't even heard of until recently). As mentioned earlier I have tried products prescribed by my GP, Polytar shampoo and Betnovate lotion, neither of these have worked. Other than using an Anti-dandruff shampoo everyday and trying my hardest not to scratch I don't know what else to do. HELP!!!

my thoughts exactly, Poke.  I have a similar problem, more predominant in the winter.  I talked with my stylist about it, and she gave me sample bottles of Nioxin.  The original ones she gave me didn't do much, but when we switched to the formula for colored hair it worked great.  Talk to you salon and see if they have some sample or smaller (hence, cheaper) bottles that you can try.  As with all salon products, you're going to spend a little more, but hey...if it helps...it helps.  Tanning for about 5 minutes in our local express bed also seems to help me a little.  Good luck!!
