Big mole on left side of face between ear and eye

Big mole on left side of face between ear and eye

Hi,
I am blessed with baby GIRL one week before. She has a big black mole by birth on left side of her face.. between eye and ear. This mole is started in the head and came into face.. The part of the mole in the head will be covered under hair and hence we are not concerned about it. But the part of the mole that came on the face and reached on eyebrows.. moved towards cheek and went back without touching ear.. is the major concern. There is also a bit of hair grown on the mole. Could you please suggest what treatment should I go for and at what age as well?

Thanks!!

Hi,
Moles are a clump of cells with different pigment (colour) than the surrounding skin. The surface of moles varies from smooth to pebbly and may contain heavy dark hairs or no hair growth.
Moles are occasionally present at birth and usually start appearing between 1 to 4 years of age, increasing in number into adulthood. Moles may be flat or raised and may contain a few coarse hairs.
GIANT HAIRY MOLE is a type of mole that is present at birth and contains hair. This mole is over one centimetre in size.  With age this mole will change in appearance and grow in size.
Parents need to know that most moles are benign, but that at least half of malignant melanomas do appear in moles. With some types of moles, this transformation into cancer often occurs during childhood.
Most moles do not need treatment. When they do, surgery and laser therapy are possible options.
Melanoma can arise in any mole, but during childhood the greatest risk is from giant congenital nevi. Melanoma will eventually occur in about 1 in 10 giant nevi. About half the time this happens before 5 years old. Giant nevi should be managed carefully – usually by a pediatrician, a dermatologist, and a plastic surgeon.

It si best to discuss with your Paediatrician the best time to get  the mole removed.
