Brown Spot on Labia Minor

After the birth of my 3rd child I noticed a darkened (brown) area on my inner labia.  I don't remember having this before (or if I did it was not as dark).  The area is not sore, itchy, or raised.  I am wondering if it is because of pigment changes from pregnancy and I know that area can become darker.  I am just worried because it is just a "spot" and not the entire area.  Has anyone had brown pigmented spots on their labia after having a baby?  Thanks!

Plus, i just googled vulvar melanosis and mine actually look like flat blackheads but arent blackheads, just flat black spots and bilateral sides, almost identically in same spots.

I am 39 and i have a 3 yr old. I have just noticed a couple of tiny black spots on labia major too, not raised, no inflammation, no pain, no discharge either.
I have recently notice age spots and other skin changes on my face too.
I am fair skinned.

Am i worried about nothing too, But they cant be pregnancy related to me?

Hi, I apologize for interrupting, but i was just diagnosed with the same thing and i was just wondering how it was removed? Did they use a laser or were stitches involved?

I had a biopsy of the area on March 17th and it was normal.  She said that it was vulvar melanosis.  I'm glad I had it performed and removed so that I do not have to worry anymore.  Thank you.

I'm not sure if I really understand the meaning of "well demarcated" after reading your post.  I don't see the area as a mole or freckle, more like a dark patch on the pink area of the labia (that's why it is so noticeable). I have an appointment with my gynecologist tomorrow for unrelated reasons but I will definitely have her check it out. Thanks for your response.  I will report back the outcome.

Hi,

You have noted the spot to be well demarcated and you also have some other hyperpigmented areas in the body (eg new onset freckles). This may not be very urgent but I suggest you have this checked by your gynecologist. Hormonal causes will usually cause uniformed darkening of the labia.A well demarcated spot may be a nevus or a mole. So just have an initial consult for this. I can not say exactly if this will disappear or lighten over time.A complete assessment to ascertain the cause of this spot is needed to be able to answer your other questions.

I am not taking oral contraceptives and I have had a history of BV and yeast infections (but not recently).  I have noticed a lot of new solar spots on my face as well as some new freckles on my back (after pregnancy).  I also had a very minor case of Chloasma (but was exposed to a lot of sun this summer).  I would say the area is well demarcated.  It is kind of like someone took a brown/black marker and put a spot there (less than 5 mm).  When I pull the skin back it looks a lot lighter and almost matches the other skin areas. I can see the spot but I can not feel it.   Will the spot lighten over time?  Thank you.

Hi,

This may be due to hormonal changes that occur with pregnancy. Is this  well demarcated? Any associated discolorations in other parts of the body?

There is no need to worry here. In the absence of soreness, itchiness, and other associated symptoms, this may be attributed to bodily changes that come with hormonal factors associated with multiple pregnancies.

Are you taking any oral contraceptives?

Any constant irritation involving the area?
