Brown patches

well, I looked at a bunch of conditions online but couldn't really source my symptoms to anything really. It looks like ringworm patches but not really. Well, I will try to describe them the best I can.

I first started to get these patches when I was 14. They start out as a light rosy red ring on the outside and a darker patch in the middle. It eventually turns all brown and just stays that way. My first patch was 6 inches left of my belly button. Another one sprouted next to it. Then one sprouted 8 inches above my belly button. Then one 6 inches to the right of it. My most recent one is about 5 inches south of my armpit and still in the pinkish stage with a brown spot in the middle. The skin doesn't get skaly or feel discomfort or itching. I am 21 now and the ones I have dont go away or get any bigger. They just oddly appear. I've noticed they come up when I am gaining more weight and the temperature is hot. Thank you for any info.

Hi,

You should consult a skin specialist and get a proper clinical examination done to find out the cause of your symptoms.

It would be difficult to say anything without having a look at the lesions.

Let us know what your doctor advises and post us about any other doubts that you have .

Regards.

I checked out the sites you listed but they dont look anything like mine. Mine are more of a quarter sized brown patch. I have about 5 now including the new one. I am a very hygienic person now other than a lip up here or there where i wont take a shower for a couple days. But as stated, i'm 21. :)

Thank you for the help.

Hi,

There are many condition where the lesions may appear as your post suggests. However, there are atleast two which I think are probable in your case. These are psoriasis and tinea corporis (fungal infection). A complete diagnosis can however, only be made by a visit to a dermatologist.
If you may want to look these up, go to :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psoriasis

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinea

Please let us know more description of the lesions for us to help you.

Keep the area clean and hygienic and keep it moist by using moisturizers.

Best regards
