confused!!!!

Dear Dr.

I have had a growth on my scrotum for about a year. it looks like a small cyst or pimple, it never really bothered me, it doesn't seem to me that it changed in size and it doesn't have any symptoms such as itching or anything else. I finally decided to check it out with my dermatologist, he said it was a little wart, he was surprised that i noticed it..he said was nothing to worry about and that it is a "non venereal" wart, I tried to ask if he was sure and he seemed very sure and assured me many times that it was nothing to worry about but for some reason i still don't feel completely comfortable. What he did was he used an electrical device to burn it or something and now there kind of a scab in its place. My question is...is it that easy to determine "venereal" from "non venereal" wart with such a brief visiual exam, and if it is in fact a "non venereal" wart, what are the implication? is it serious? and what if it is actually a "venereal" wart? I'm really confused about all of this. I have searched many sites to try to find out the difference but couldn't anything to satisfy me.  Any comments or suggesetions are really appreciated. Thank You.

Warts are uncommon on the scrotum, while cysts are common.  If this was a wart, there is no way--and actually no practical point--in trying to tell the difference between "venereal" and "nonvenereal," because there is no way to tell where a wart came from, even if you're sure it's a wart.  But if it was burned off, and stays away, then it doesn't matter much.  If it recurs, show another doctor for another opinion.  But if there's nothing there when the scab comes off, I'd forget about it.

Best.

I just wanted to add that I have not been sexually active for over 2 year just in case that has any significance. Thanks
