Could my 10 yr old have either a pimple or a cold sore?

Yesterday a red mark appeared just above my 10 year old daugther's lip line and now there seems to be a tiny "pimple". She's not had her period yet so I wonder how it could be a pimple. But she's also never had a cold sore, so I am not sure about that either. She says it "hurts". I am not certain what to do or how to go about treating. Please advise.

Hello,
It can be an infected hair follicle or boil. Pls ask her to keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

I hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your daughter is doing or in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
