Crotch rash

I have a red rash approximately 2 1/2 inches round in the groin area between my sack and thigh.  It itches like crazy and burns every now and then.  I can pat it off with toilet paper and it has a light brown/tan residue on the toilet paper that has a really nasty smell to it (thinking that it is sweat from my legs/scrotum rubbing together mostly since my job being in sales requires me to stand and walk around for almost 8 hours a day).  Haven't tried any type of creams yet, but a lot of posts seem to go the hydro-cortizone way.  Any suggestions?  P.S. I have had this for about 2-3 months now and i am getting tired of it.

After more searching around and looking for more posts, i found that alot of other people have also tried using a dandruff shampoo.  Since it is a fungal thing, the dandruff shampoo helps kill the fungi that is in the scalp that causes dandruff.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

The symptoms are suggestive of Jock itch. Jock itch shows up in post-adolescent men and hormonal changes during puberty, lifestyle and heredity each play a role.Predisposing fungal disease like tines cruris may also aggravate it.

Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day. and do not share other people’s towels.Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment.

If even after treatment the rash persists then it has to be differentiated from eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, sweat dermatitis and parasitic infestations

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
