back in November 2009 from her brother who wrestles. It was about dime size but her pediatrician diagnosed it as eczema. We tried 2 rounds of flucticasone (steriod cream) and it went away both times but came back worse 10 days later. I went to a dermatologist and he scraped it and checked under a microscope and determined it was ringworm
was about 3 inches in diameter when we first started applying the oxistat 9 days ago and within days it went almost completly away except for a inch line on the bottom of the circle. For the last 3 days it hasn't changed at all. It is not real red and has just a few pimples. Will this eentually go away or should it be gone since we have been using the oxistat for nine days already. Also, the doctor said to use the oxistat for a week till it is gone and then another week after it is gone. If it is not gone in 2 weeks is that normal since we used the steroid cream and should I keep applying the cream till it is gone and then use it for a week after it is gone? Thanks!
Hello,
The rash should have been completely gone by now. You should use the steroid cream only after consulting your dermatologist. Steroids especially Oxistat is not without side effects and should be used with caution in this age group. He can put her on oral antifungal treatment also.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
