Discoloration of the Penis

5693131?1274161148
I have had this discoloration on my penis for over a month now, I thought I may have bruised it  It's on the top and mainly on the bottom of my penis.  I have been applying Lamasil to it over the last 8 days thinking it may be a form of jock itch, it looks slightly lighter but it still looks rather dark.

In the picture you can see an area without the discoloration along with it surrounding basically the entire base of my penis.  When I have an erection you basically cannot see the discoloration.

What could be causing this?

Hello,
It can be due to hyperpigmentation of the skin of the penis. I hope you are not taking any medicines because fixed drug eruption causing hyperpigmented skin is very common with certain medicine. Hyperpigmentation is darkening of the skin. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.

I suggest you to get this possibility evaluated from your doctor.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
