Eczema

by fried30, Jan 25, 2009 09:40AM
Can eczema and/or psoriasis be painless and non-itchy, especially if it is localized?

Could eczema cause tingling of the skin?

I had small red patches on my penis glans that tingled, but did not itch or burn.

Does eczema and psoriasis appear on the genitals. In my case, the penis?

I have had psoriasis since I was age 6.  I am 27 now and have 10% of my body covered in psoriasis.  This is considered severe.  Psoriasis in my life has showed up EVERYWHERE , the penis, behind my ears, in any weird spot you could think of.  Psoriasis can appear anywhere on the uman body.  Depending on how bad the area is, and how built of the skin cells are, psoriasis can be non-painful but usually it has some sort of discomfort associated with it.  If it is on the genitals, it can be painless and usually it can be easily diagnosed because genital psoriaisis tends to shed the built up skin quickly.  If you do not have built up patchy skin on the genitals than more than likely it is eczema.  However, psoriasis tends to itch.  HELL psoriais is derived from the word psora which means "To Itch" in Greek.

Thank you for the extensive info. I know for a fact that I have eczema, and I do have recurrent outbreaks, triggered by stress, dryness from showering, and on my the glans of my penis (wrinkled, dry, cracking, sometimes itchy skin). Sometimes I get red patches.

How long would psoriasis last on the genitals? Is it possible to be there for a few days to a week only? I had an episode where I had a painless blister and it dried up and crusted over.

I don't think anyone in my family has it.

My psoriasis lasted aorund 10 days on the genitals.  Of course it did not go away without me putting Dovonex on it.  Dovonex is not exactly highly recommended for the genital area but it cleared mine right up.  I have also got those painless type lesions that crust over and go away within 2 weeks.

Have you ever experienced tingling on your penis during that time? I used 1% hydrocortisone cream, and it cleared well enough.
