Facial Rash

I am a 25 years old female. I am fair and have had flawless skin-- not even acne. I do not use make up and/or creams, soaps on my face. I have not changed my diet or bathing routine.
On a Christmas cruise 2007, my Mum contracted Strep while in Germany. The doctor advised me to to also take Zyclopimine - antibiotics. Ever since, I have had a red rash that breaks out. It never fully goes away. Just when it seems to go subside, it breaks out again. The rash itself is cocentrated on my jawline, somewhat like a beard would be. It is red, scaly, iritated, mildly itchy. Absent are zit-like pimples, whiteheads and so on.
I am intersted in your input. I have done independent reseach. Looks like a facial yeast infection, however; I would like to know other ideas. I have been to an allergenist. Nothing worthy of mention. I am slated to see the dermatologist the end of this month.

Thanks.

Hi,

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for your symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing.

Regards.

Thanks for your reply.

I do not use any make up or soaps. Shampoos and soaps have not changed.

I have had these zits since the antibiotic usage. I did break out as soon as I used the pills in December 07 and they have been here since.

Prior to this, I was only allergic to bees.

Thanks for the pointers.

I might add, they are slighly bothersome -- mildly itchy.

Thanks for your insight.

Hi,

I am glad that you have posted a pic here, and though it does not work as well as a face-to-face interview, it does help us.

I would like to say that these spots do look like inflammation of the oil glands of the face. Therefore, in a way they may be primordial acne or whiteheads. A yeast or fungal infection is also a possibility, however, in either case the association with antibiotic usage some time back does not seem to connect with this lesion.

I think an examination under the microscope of some scrapings would be most helpful in ruling out  a hidden fungal infection.

I would also like to know the degree and volume of your cosmetic usage and if you have had an allergic events previously.

I hope this helped. Let me know the answers to these to help you better.

Best regards
