Dr. Rockoff,
First of all, I want to thank you ahead of time. Anyway, here is the situation:
For one thing, I am a 21-year old male with a limited sexual history, with no vaginal sex and only a few occasions of oral sex and/or vaginal fingering coupled with possibly touching my penis. I recently visited a doctor, and after a quick examination of my penis he determined that I had no warts/suspicious things, and a routine chlamydia/gonorrhea urine test came back negative. I tend to worry about this a lot, and just entered a relationship. Anyway...
Every now and then (exactly when I cannot remember, but this recent bout has been fairly consistent for 9 days so far) I get these sharp pains in my penis. They would then radiate down each leg/buttocks and to my feet. This occurs on BOTH sides. Today, after really trying to figure out what is causing this problem, found a very small area on the right side of my penis shaft that I believe is causing these pains; that is, only when I rub/touch that specific area, I feel the sharp pain on that side of the penis. I found a similar, but less sensitive, area on the left side of the shaft as well that does not result in quite as much pain. The pain itself is not excruciating by any stretch, but simply noticing it is causing me anguish (I notice it MORE now that I have rubbed/stretched it). I have not noticed any type of lesion on either area, although the skin on the right side frequently becomes raw and sometimes breaks only after rigoruous, non-lubricated masturbation. :
1.) Without lesions present, does this type of pain sound like it could be genital herpes (I or II), especially lasting 9 (and counting) days?
2.) In addition, does the fact that similar occurrences happen on both sides of the penis lessen the chances of it being herpes?
3.) Since the penis is very sensitive, can simply pulling/rubbing on any area excessively cause pain that radiates down the legs and have it NOT be herpes?
THANK YOU!
