Genital Ulcers

by steven17, Nov 08, 2009 11:37AM
I have a question concerning penis ulcers. I have two ulcers on my penis right now, and one is on the left side of the frenulum, and the other one is also on the left side just under the glans. They are both red in color. The one on the frenulum is painful when touched, but the one under the glans isn't painful even when touched. I have ruled out any STDs because both my partner and I are virgins when we first started dating and we have been faithful to each others since we started dating. The ulcers, however, did occur during or right after sex (or at least that is when I discovered them).

This is the second time I ever have ulcers on the genital area. I forgot the location of the first ulcer, but it healed within three days. The ulcers seemed to be healing now (this is the 3rd day I have them), and they started to look less like an ulcer but they are still painful when touched.

I am very much sure that it is a dermatology problem and I am wondering if there a way to prevent it from happening again.

Thank you very much.

P.S.: I decided to choose the topic General Dermatology Problems because I don't know what my problem is.

To: steven17,
Hello,
There can be few possibilities which I can think of for these penile ulcers and these need to be ruled out after consulting a dermatologist. It can be due to ulcers formed because of friction rub, tropical diseases, sexually transmitted diseases like herpes, syphilis or systemic diseases like SLE and lymphogranuloma venereum . Treatment is diagnosis specific. Biopsy of the skin may be needed to confirm the diagnosis. Please consult a dermatologist for this.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.

Thank you for the reply. I forgot to mention that I have polycythemia and skin allergy. Do you think they could be the reason why the ulcers appeared?

Thank you,
Steven17

P.S.: the ulcers no longer hurt and they seemed to be healed.
