Grovers Diseas

Grovers Diseas

I am a 56 year old white, fair skinned female who has just be diagnosed with Grovers Disease.  I have a history of Crohns Disease and have been taking Remicade.  So far, nothing has been able to control the spread of Grovers.  It started on my back and has spread to my front and limbs.  I am currently taking 20mg of prednisone and the itching and new red bumps continue.

Is there any treatment anyone has had that has helped?  I am not the typical Grovers patient because I understand that it generally is found in men, but it was diagnosed by biopsy on two spots.

I am desperate for some relief????

Hi, I'm a 44 yr. old female. I have Scleroderma. Since May I have had Grover's. I am curious if you itch all over or just where there are sores. My body has itched from head to toe, but it seemed to progress like, first my face, then my chest, then my back, then my legs, then my butt, then my stomach. About 3 weeks after the itch I got started I got the sores. I did  have a lot of relief from the sores and itching from prednizone. I started on 60 mg. for 5 days and then 50 for 5 days, etc. It slowly got better and the last 2 weeks I felt pretty good. But as time goes by (about 2-3 wks) since my last prednizone, I have begun to itch more each day. I am getting a few new sores. I still only have less than 20. I think I had in excess of 200 at one point in July. I also had a very high temp the end of June along with elevated liver enzymes and low platlets. I'm not sure if there is a connection. I have found no creams that really help much. No creams help very much. The steroid drops helped my eyes feel better but if I stop using them, they get worse again within a day. I've yet to find a doctor that knows much about the disease.

Hi,

Minor outbreaks  of grover's disease can be controlled with prescription strength topical cortisone creams. More troubling eruptions usually clear up after taking Accutane or Tetracycline pills for one to three months. If these fail or the outbreak is severe, PUVA phototherapy treatments, antifungal pills and cortisone injections are alternatives.

Remain cool, as sweating may induce more itchy spots. Apply diphemanil methylsulfate powder.

It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for the symptoms and a proper clinical examination.

Let us know if you need any further information.

Regards

I was diagnosed with grover's years ago I am a 46 yr old female and no doctor includeing dermatology could figure it out until now, I am seeing a great dermatologist that put me on prednizone and doxycycline together same time and trust me it clears it doxy 100mg 1 tab by mouth twice a day for 2 weeks and prednizone20mg.  It will go away but I do still get out breaks about every 8 months.  I feel now I have it under control once I see it start I go back on meds. It does get very itchy and red.
