Red Shiney Spot of Penis Head Ridge

I have a red shiny spot on the ridge of my penis.  It is about 1/8 inch long. . I have never noticed it before - however, maybe its always been there.

My penis has been irritated as of late.  I am very active and think that my underwear may be the problem.

I am worried that it may be herpes however.  I did have unprotected oral sex a month ago.

Again, it is red and shiny - on the ridge of my penis.  My penis head seems to be sore from time to time almost as if i have masterbated too much (which I have not).  Nor have I had a great deal of sex.  So it cant be friction from that.

If I caught herpes - and I had a genital outbreak - would there be Sores and lessions that break ?  I did not have a sore or lession.  However, maybe this is one ?  Some days - it does not bother me at all.  Some days - I notice it.

I am very worried.

Can you help me please ?

Red shiny spots are not what herpes looks like.  This is most likely just some irritation.  If I were you, I would wait a week or so, and if you're still worried, show it to a doctor.  But it doesn't sound like herpes.

Best.

I am very glad you wrote this.  It sounds exactly like me.  I noticed my spot about a month ago and it is still there.  Hopefully just an irritation that will go away soon.  I'm thankful to run across your note here.

Thanks,  I feel better.

Does the first outbreak of HSV 1 herpes on the genitals always produce lessions ?   I see pictures of Herpes on the internet and you are right  - this does not look like that.

Thanks for your prompt answer.
