Have I Got Roscea

Have I Got Roscea

About 4 weeks ago I got a red itchy rash on my chest. The skin is red with what looks like ives or small bumps. I have used Eurax cream and Bach Rescue cream and Zertec. My doctor prescribed steroids "prednisolone 5MG which I have been on for 6 days now with no improvement. I have attached a photo of the affected area in my profile . Thank you for your time Margi

Dear Margi,

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

Erythematous (red) papules (small bumps) on your chest could be caused by quite a few things. However, allergic reaction should be looked into first. Have you been taking any drugs, supplements, or applied topical products? Has that area been exposed to sun before lesions appeared?

If I understood you right, you have been taking 5mg of prednisolone daily for six days. That is a rather low dosage and immediate results are not to be expected.

In general, rosacea can appear on chests. Have you ever had rosacea flare on your face and/or chest before?

Hi Jasmina,
I have not taken anything unusal either med's, creams, or food. I took zertec but this do not help. The dosage is 5mg six tablets a day in one go. I have not had rosacea  before and the only place the rash has appeared is on my chest. Its very itchey and worse at night in bed. I have been having night sweats now for about 2 years but only on and off, could this be related to the rash?
