Any of you reading this that have this problem, GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST FIRST. Check if it's psoriasis, and if it's not, put cortisone on the affected area in the morning and night every day until it gets better. Cortisone only stings when your skin is affected, so once it doesn't sting when applied, you can stop putting it on.
I also suffered from this and I tried a few things to prevent it re-occurring but nothing worked until I tried a small bit of vaseline, just put A small bit on your finger and rub it well into your foreskin twice every day for a week then after that just put it on 3 to 4 times a week .I haven’t Had this problem for weeks now
I would imagine this has been resolved for the OP by now.
To anybody else reading this, I have dealt with this issue a few times in the past, normally as a result of more frequent/vigorous masturbation or sexual activity.
Take a break from sex/jerkin' it for a few days. Apply moisturizer liberally. The suggestion to use lip balm is interesting; it might work better than a body lotion. Avoid over-washing the area until the dryness has resolved, as soap may dry out the skin further.
As more of a general piece of advice, try to drink more water. Most people are chronically dehydrated (myself included). The best way to hydrate your skin isn't outside in by a topical cream, but from the inside out by drinking water.
Im also having this problem, please someone who is an expert help, or shall i go to skin doctor or medicine doctor, there is no urologist in my place??????
I would get raw-feeling painful cracks just under my penis head. The stinging hurt when touched that sex or masturbation wasn't fun. I discovered that if I keep my foreskin pulled back so that area gets lots of air and stays dry that after a day or two the cracks healed. Now I always keep my foreskin pulled back and keep the penis head exposed as if I was circumcized. I use paper medical tape to hold it back and I haven't had the cracking problem again. I take off the tape when I have sex or masturbate and then tape my foreskin back off the penis head after I shower.

Doctor, would Polysporin be appropriate to use for this condition? Thank you for the advice.
I too have this problem time to time and the only thing I have found to work believe it or not is a liberal coating of medicated lip balm after the pain of a hot shower sounds weird but I figured I wasn't much different than chapped lips and boy was I right. Instead of taking a week to go away it takes like 2 or 3 days. Taboo but proven remedy trust me I know how much this hurts
I have had this problem for about 2 and half months. I have tried a few things but only one that gave me relief. I bought( Lotrimin Ultra with the butenafine hydrochloride cream 1%) It cleared the cracks within 3 days. Good luck

I also have this problem. Recently my wife and I were having sex. After having sex i noticed the next day my penis Foreskin was swallon. The swallan lasted about a day. When it finally settle down, I noticed my foreskin being extra dry. I used a recommended oil (bio oil) for my dryness. This day my foreskin has gotten tighter which cause me to not be able to pull my skin back because it hurts and burn and im afraid it might crack. This issue happens pretty often. And it leaves me no choice but to not have sex for about a week....... please someone help explain this.....
I get this from time to time. You can use Miconazole or apply antiseptic cream. My doctor gave me tablets with the same active ingredient at one stage. They are normally prescribed for women.
I also wore a condom with a small amount of antiseptic cream in it. This cleared it up quickly.
I find that masturbating too hard and too often can bring this on. I also find that masturbating while wearing a condom with a small amount of water based lube in it will avoid this happening.
Hi, I was hoping for other possible causes because I get the same symptoms however I clean thoroughly everyday and do wash of all soap from the area (with foreskin pulled back). I find that I only experience the condition over the colder months. I had re-occurring symptoms last winter, it went away over summer and I have just had the dryness, redness, cracking and itching on the tip of the foreskin over the last day, incidentally when the weather has gotten cold again.
Any ideas as to what this is?

Hi,
This is a condition called balanitis.Balanitis is inflammation of the glans penis. Lack of aeration and irritation because of smegma and discharge surrounding the glans penis causes inflammation and edema.More common in uncircumcised males.
It is usually caused by poor hygiene in uncircumcised men. The inflammation can be due to infection, harsh soaps, or failure to properly rinse soap off while bathing.
One common organism associated with balanitis is a yeast known as Candida albicans. Balanitis may occur because of excessive growth of Candida, due to moisture and warmth under the foreskin.
It can be treated by applying Miconazole, an anti-fungal medication. Most cases of balanitis can be controlled with medicated creams and good hygiene.
Inflammation has many possible causes, including irritation by environmental substances, physical trauma, and infection by a wide variety of pathogens, including bacteria, virus, or fungus—each of which require a particular treatment.
Retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. Apply bacitracin (not Neosporin) for pediatric patients if bacterial infection is suspected.
Apply topical clotrimazole for adult men with probable candidal balanitis.
If the symptoms persist, you would need to consult your doctor.
Let us know if you need any other information.
Regards.
