Herpes from Coke can..PLEASE HELP..posting agian

My cousin is really worried that he might of transmitted herpes to his kid. He had no cold sore on his lip. but very very small bumps on lining of his lip. They are really small and don't even know if it herpes related. He was tested along time ago was was positive for oral herpes. He thinks his saliva is contagious because he had tingles, so even though he didn't have a cold sore, he believes his saliva is contagious. So he drank his coke and set it aside and when he wasn't looking, his son came and tired to drink it. I said tried because his son put his lips on the the other side of the opening (it was a normal coke can) and never the side that had a hole from where the drink comes out. The can was sitting there for 10 minutes or so before the son tried to drink it. However, my cousin is worried that, the one or two drops of coke that slid down to the other side came in contact with his sons lips will transmit the herpes. He asked his son numerous times and his son said he didn't even really get to drink anything as the can was almost empty. He is freaking out and I am trying to calm him down. So I have a question, is it likely that his son got herpes from that one or two drops of coke, if even that. PLEASE HELP.

Come on.Convince him that his fears are unfounded..While it is possible that he is harbouring the virus, you dont get transmission just like that. The virus lives in the nerve ganglion only to come out during vesicle formation.Even if they did, the boy ought to have a break on his mucosa.Still if you believe they did enter they are destroyed by the innate immune system.Still more is other immune mechanisms. So fear is unfounded.
