Herpes?

So I've been sleeping with my gf for about 5 months now, mostly unprotected. Last February we both got checked for STD's, and were totally negative. Since then, we had one falling out, where we each made out with ONE person, ONE time. No sexual acts whatsoever, just kissing. Both had no s/s of STD's. Back to now, 5 months later. We had sex the other night, and she had had a tampon in, so she was really dry. The sex hurt. Now, there's a spot on the left side of my shaft that has little ulcerations. Two open and healing, and now 2 more little red bumps. They appear to be localized in the area that hurt worst during sex. My question is, could this be latent herpes from one of the people we kissed? I mean after 5 months would it just pop up? I don't have swollen lymph nodes, flu symptoms, etc., and this is the first time I've ever had bumps/sores on my penis. Could it be an STD, or does this follow more of a friction blister sort of story? Please help :-(

Hello,
Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it sounds more like friction blister.Although the possibility of herpes cannot be denied completely.

Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur. Typically, another outbreak can appear weeks or months after the first, but it almost always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak.

Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. Transmission may also occur through skin-to-skin contact even during periods of asymptomatic shedding.

The only way of ruling it out is by getting yourself tested for genital herpes. Laboratory tests include: culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA. I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get it ruled out.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.

Mostly a friction blister and kissing alone will not cause genital herpes.
